The organ at St. Matthew is a 2 manual Allen 5000 digital computer model. It electronically copies the many tonal impressions of a substantial pipe organ for a church of this size.
It was purchased for the original church in 1985 and moved in 1992 through an intricate scaffolding pulley system to the balcony of the new sanctuary. Extra speakers were added at at that time. The organ has a midi attachment where music can be recorded and played back, useful when the organist goes to communion.
The organist, Kathy Neumann, studied organ at Concordia University in River Forest with post graduate work at Northwestern University. Kathy has blessed the St. Matthew worship services with her playing for over 30 years.
