Altar Guild
Beauty in the church is not a matter of indifference.  God gave us special instructions for beautifying the tabernacle and the temple and their services in the Old Testament. (Exodus 25-27, Numbers 4, Kings 5-7 and Chronicles 3-4).

Each month volunteers dedicate themselves to the Lord to prepare His house for worship.  Altar Guild teams work closely with each other in making preparation for worship services.  If you would like to become a member in serving His house at St. Matthew-Hawthorn Woods, please contact Lori Johnson.

Should you like to make a donation to place floral arrangements in memory or celebration of loved ones, this request is coordinated through the Church Office.

"O God, accept and bless the work of our hands to the care and adornment of your sanctuary that you may be glorified, through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord."

Coffee Hour
Each Sunday immediately following the 8:00 a.m. Worship Service, members of the congregation gather in Luther Hall for coffee, juice and pastries. Why not stop by and enjoy friendship and fellowship for all ages.    If you would like to be a "Host" of Coffee Hour, please contact the church office.

COOL Food Pantry
The mission of the Christian Outreach of Lutherans (COOL) is to give comprehensive assistance to families in need, by reducing hunger and homelessness, while encouraging personal growth and self-sufficiency.  Serving all of Lake County.

Bread for Life Sunday: Every last Sunday of the month will be Bread for Life Sunday.  The Food Pantry Team meets on the following Monday to package and delivery the blessed loaves to COOL in Waukegan.

LERT
St. Matthew has partnered with Lutheran Church Charities and the L.E.R.T. Program.
Disasters can happen anytime, anywhere. In disasters, LCC volunteers serve
as the hands and feet of Jesus Christ to those who are suffering and in need.
For more information on how to a part of this great team, please contact the Church office.

Members of St. Matthew assisted Lutheran Church Charities Crosses for Losses ministry program by painting hearts and fish which are then assembled, scripted and attached to crosses.  For more information on the LCC Crosses for Losses program, go to
