Frequently Asked Questions
We are delighted to invite the community to our 2nd annual DIY Messiah. If the following FAQ’s do not answer your questions, please contact the church office @ 847-438-7709. We will answer them as quickly as we can.
I have never been to a Do-It-Yourself Messiah. What should I expect?
Sometimes called a Sing Along Messiah, this musical presentation of the First Part of Handel’s Messiah includes several solo parts interspersed with several choral parts. Professional vocalists will perform the solo parts. The audience is also the chorus and will sing those choral parts under the direction of our conductor, Ms. Marissa Simmons. We will have both an organ and a piano accompanist for all musical parts. You will be asked which part that you will be singing when you order tickets.
I don’t know the music very well or at all. How can I get acquainted with it?
Download either the Choruses alone or download for purchase the entire scores. See the Music tab for more details. Listen to Part 1 of the oratorio HERE Listen to the Hallelujah Chorus HERE
May I bring my own Messiah score?
Yes! Please download a copy for your electronic device or to print out. Check under “The Music” for more details on how to do this. There will be a limited number of paper copies available for use at the performance.
Is St. Matthew Church ADA Accessible?
Yes.
Are children welcome to attend?
Yes, we would love to share this beautiful music with children. It will be about 2 hours long with an intermission, more suitable for children ages 8 and over.
How will participants be seated?
