2025-2026 Confirmation
Kick-Off Meeting - Thursday, August 27 @ 7:00pm
Greetings in the Name of our Savior Jesus Christ!
Summer is quickly passing and it’s time to plan on Youth Confirmation at St. Matthew! The 2025-2026 Confirmation Season includes exciting additions this year!
Once again, Dan Mahn (chairman of the Board of Deacons) will be teaching the first-year students, covering the introduction to the Small Catechism and the Bible through the First Article of the Apostles’ Creed. Pastor Ryan Ferguson will once again be teaching the second-year students, covering the Second Article of the Apostles’ Creed, Third Article, Holy Baptism, and the Sacrament of the Altar, preparing the students to take their First Communion on Maundy Thursday, April 2, 2026. Pastor Blonski will teach third-year students covering the Lord’s Prayer. Youth & Family Minister, Brittany Johnson will lead the parent sessions.
In January, Pastor Blonski once again will prepare the third-year students to present their Faith Testimonies and reaffirm their Baptismal vows on Confirmation Sunday April 19, 2026.
Classes begin on Sunday, September 7 and will meet for 10 Sundays from 6:00pm-7:15pm, wrapping up on November 16. There will be a holiday break, and then we will resume with 10 Winter sessions on January 4, concluding March 15.
Please note: we will not be providing virtual lessons each week. In case of inclement weather, a Zoom-option will be provided, otherwise, plan on meeting in-person each week. A complete schedule will be provided the night of our Confirmation Kick-Off.
Second- and Third-Year students should not need any new materials. We’ll be using the unused portions of the workbooks this coming year and the same Small Catechism and Lutheran Study Bible.
First year students will need to purchase a copy of all three.

Copies of these books will be available to purchase the night of our Kick-Off.
This year, one or both parents are to attend each lesson for the first 15 minutes with their children, then will be excused to meet with either Brittany, Pastor Ryan or Pastor Blonski to go over the coming week’s lesson and devotions that will completed in the home.
The “Confirmation Kick-Off” will be on Wednesday, August 27 at 7:00pm. We will meet in the main sanctuary. We will go through the schedule, what to expect with instructions, and get to meet one another. We will also go over our Walcamp retreat which is scheduled on October 10-12, 2025.

Please note,
* If your child will be in 3rd, 4th or 5th grade starting August 2025, they will be in Pre-Confirmation.
* If your child will be in 6th grade starting August 2025, they will be in 1st Year Confirmation
* If your child will be in 7th or 8th grade starting in August 2025, they will be in the 2nd Year or 3rd Year Confirmation Classes. This will depend on when they started First Year.
