Sharing The Joy Ministry
The mission of this family friendly ministry is to share with others the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. We need to “Love like Jesus”. To be the hands and feet of Jesus, means not only to serve those in need, but also to share the joy of Christ’s gospel across all ages. We can do this by showing others what the Good News means to us through our actions, relationships, and attitudes. We believe the Word is to be used as a gift to open a world of Joy and that real joy is found not in being served, but in choosing to serve.
What a great way for us to SHINE.

Sharing the Joy Ministry (Lyla B.) has put together over 50 Easter Baskets that will be going to a local food shelter. Baskets are for children and families that need a little extra "Joy" this Easter.
10.20.19 - Sharing The Joy had a great time this year decorating cookies and delivering them to Saddlebrook residents. The children enjoyed a little trick or treating but the best part they gave a cookie with a message of God's Love.
Residents that received these cookies were so grateful and surprised. It sure is a wonderful thing to Share The Joy..

.19 - Update
Sharing the Joy Ministry would like to thank you for supporting the efforts of this Ministry. We have been able to Share the Joy of Jesus by presenting “Comfort Blankets” to many individuals that have been struck with illness or injury. The children of Sharing The Joy, enjoyed serving a Lenten meal and help with the clean-up. Recently several members of Sharing the Joy trained to work with the “Buddy Break” Project. We will be assisting Alpine Chapel in their next “Buddy Break” program in May. We also assisted Love Inc. with a cooking class that helped families in need, learn how to use items from the food pantry to make easy meals for their families. We have also helped an inner city Chicago school with some supplies for their classroom.
We are currently working with Fremont Township’s “Adopt A Senior Program”. With items that have been generously donated by our members, we have been able to fill 50 bags that will help these seniors. This will be an on-going project for us.
Upcoming Projects: *Adopt A Senior *Youth Projects w/Love Inc. *School Supplies *Volunteer Night
Donation Request: Shampoo, Conditioner, Deodorant, Toothpaste, Tooth Brushes, Soap, Lotion, Socks, Laundry Soap, Dish Soap, Puzzle Books, Coffee/Tea, Instant Hot Cereal Packets
Additional Senior Items: New Blanket/Throw, Commonwealth Edison Gift Card, Target/Walgreens/CVS, Jewel $5.00 Gift Cards,
Pet Food Store Gift Card
Donated items can be placed in the bins in Luther Hall marked “Sharing the Joy” or you can place items on the church office desks.
Thank you so very much for your continued support.

have continued our push with Meal Train. This is a great opportunity for families that may need help with meals for a short period of time. The families/individuals that have received meals have been so grateful. Please keep Meal Train in mind if you or someone you know is going in for surgery, having a baby, or just needs some support. Sharing the Joy will be happy to assist in making meals. Please contact the church office if you have a need.
In November we kicked off the St. Matthew Giving Tree. The Giving Tree supported Love Inc. and the mission to provide bedding to children in the Southwest region of Lake County. With the very generous support of our congregation members and friends we were able to supply the following:
· Pillows: 25
· Twin/Full/Queen Sheet Sets: 48
· Twin/Full/Queen/King Comforters: 31
· Blankets: 68
· Stuffed Animals: 35
· Books: 66
We were also given a donation of 20 sets of Hats/Scarfs/Gloves from Joanne Becke, who is part of the Caring Hands group that makes Project Linus Blankets.
In 2019 we are hoping to get more involved with different organizations within our area. Our goal is to get out in the community and show God’s love by Sharing The Joy with our children. Some of the activities we are excited about are, reaching out to families in need and individuals that are sick. We will be going to nursing homes, helping at the Alpine Food Pantry, working with Love Inc. and their continued mission to help families in the Southwest region of Lake County. We will continue supporting the Fremont, Lake Zurich, and Mundelein Townships. We look forward to working with the St. Matthew Youth Program and getting the children at St. Matthew involved with some volunteer opportunities.
Please watch for announcements from Sharing The Joy.
We are always looking for new members to this great ministry. Please contact Cheri or Linda in the church office for more information on how you can spread the Joy of God’s love.

SADDLEBROOK TRICK OR TREAT
Our October 2018 event was one to remember. On a Tuesday evening our group and 13 children got together and decorated over 100 cookies. The children, ages 7-15, all worked together and decorated and packaged these cookies. These cookies were taken to Saddlebrook in Grayslake and passed out to residents during their October 21st Trick Or Treat event. Sharing The Joy members & their children went to different locations inside Saddlebrook and passed out the cookies to the homes that were participating in the event. The residents that received the cookies were so thankful and could not believe that they were being given something. We received a thank you note from one of the residents stating:
“What a surprise as I handed out candy on Sunday for our Trick Or Treat here at Saddlebrook. I’ve never been given something in return! What yummy sugar cookies and wonderful message from your church. What a great project for you youth. May God bless your ministry.”
