Altar Guild
Beauty in the church is not a matter of indifference. God gave us special instructions for beautifying the tabernacle and the temple and their services in the Old Testament. (Ex-25-27, Num 4, Kings 5-7 and Chron. 3-4). Each month volunteers dedicate themselves to the Lord to prepare His house for worship. Altar Guild teams work closely with each other in making prepararation for worship services on Saturday mornings. If you would like to become a member in serving His house at St. Matthew-Hawthorn Woods, please contact Delores Crisera. Should you like to make a donation to place floral arrangements in memory or celebration of loved ones, this request is also coordinated through Delores Crisera. " O God, accept and bless the work of our hands to the care and adornment of your sanctuary that you may be glorified, through Jesus Christ, Thy Son, our Lord"

Sharing The Joy
The mission of this new women’s ministry is to share with others the love and compassion of Jesus Christ. We need to “Love like Jesus”. To be the hands and feet of Jesus, means not only to serve those in need, but also to share the joy of Christ’s gospel with everyone. We can do this by showing others what the Good News means to us through our actions, relationships, and attitudes. We believe the Word is to be used as a gift to open a world of Joy and that real joy is found not in being served, but in choosing to serve.
How might we accomplish this? By…
What does this look like?
To start by finding opportunities to serve others that are already available by jumping in as a team of women (with our children) to offer support to already planned events and support existing organizations.
Please contact the Linda Wollberg or Cheri Selimos in the Church Office for more details.

How might we accomplish this? By…
- Opening our eyes to the needs around us. People who need our help exist all around us – in our home, our neighborhood, and our work place. The first, most important step is to simply notice them.
- Do something to move them forward. Even if you don’t have all the answers or facts, jump in and help as best you know how. Refuse to use the excuse, “But I don’t know what to do” or “I can help tomorrow.” Assess their need, offer some help, and follow through right away.
- Joyfully pay the price. Service to others always costs something – sometimes money, sometimes time, sometimes reputation, and almost always energy. See the price. Pay it anyway. And enjoy the return on investment.
- Do not expect something in return. Remove the what’s-in-it-for-me question that motivates so many people today. Help with no expectation of repayment. And you will be repaid with joy and fulfillment in countless other ways.
